ABOUT US
What is Women's Ski Jumping USA?
Women’s Ski Jumping USA began as the primary fundraising organization for the U.S. women's ski jumping program. In addition, the organization has supported the team's development program coaching, travel, training, equipment, and the Fly Girls junior development program. Consistent with our mission, we are currently focused on financially supporting US women ski jumpers so they can be the best jumpers in the world; and advocating for gender equality in sport.
What is the overall mission?
To support a successful and sustainable program focused on growing participation in U.S. women's ski jumping by facilitating US development efforts that produce the best women ski jumpers in the world, with an emphasis on Character, Confidence and Courage. In addition, WSJ-USA aims to remain an influential voice in advocating for gender equality in sport.
When did the organization form and why?
WSJ-USA is a 501c3 non-profit organization incorporated in 2003 in Park City, Utah. It was created to support the rising number of elite U.S. women ski jumpers who needed financial support and strong leadership to get them into the international fold and on sport's biggest stage, the Olympic Games.
Peter Jerome, an airline pilot and father to 13-time National Champion Jessica Jerome, bought a "Nonprofit For Dummies" book and recruited prominent community leaders to join the effort. More than 15 years later, WSJ-USA has proudly supported the Team to back-to-back Nations Cup victories in 2012 and 2013, and has fostered the careers of World Champions Lindsey Van and Sarah Hendrickson.
